The Business Factory Food (BFFood) has officially opened the application period for its VII edition, offering a unique growth opportunity for all startups in the food sector looking to accelerate their consolidation in the market. The accelerator, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia through the Instituto Galego de Promoción Económica (IGAPE) and XesGalicia, is coordinated by the Clúster Alimentario de Galicia (Clusaga) with the support of leading companies in the sector.
With the aim of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the agri-food sector, BFFood will support promising and high-potential projects in transforming into viable and scalable businesses. From Wednesday, March 12th, interested entrepreneurs can access the application form available on the official website and submit their projects to be part of this initiative, which connects talent, industry, and strategic resources to boost the growth of the food ecosystem and which, over its six previous editions, has supported 73 projects from around 62 companies, 26 of which are newly created. Projects applying to the incubation/acceleration stage can be submitted until April 30th, while projects applying to the consolidation stage can do it until September 2nd.
Projects selected for this new edition of BFFood will gain access to a range of benefits designed to drive their development and maximize their market success. One of the program’s key pillars is personalized mentorship, where each initiative will receive guidance and support from a leading company in the food sector. Additionally, participants will receive specialized training to strengthen their business model and gain access to infrastructure and technical services to advance the creation and enhancement of their product or service.
Another core value of BFFood is fostering networking, enabling entrepreneurs to connect with the agri-food ecosystem, establish strategic relationships, and open new opportunities for collaboration and growth. In terms of financial support, projects selected for the acceleration stage can benefit from a non-repayable grant of €25,000 provided by the Instituto Galego de Promoción Económica (Igape). Furthermore, XesGalicia may offer financial support through participatory loans of up to €50,000 for the acceleration stage and up to €250,000 for the consolidation stage, facilitating the stability and expansion of the most promising startups.
The VII edition of the Business Factory Food is aimed at innovative projects in the food sector that are at different stages of development. The program seeks to support pre-seed initiatives, meaning those with a business idea that they want to turn into a minimum viable product within a formalized company. Additionally, seed-stage projects are welcome—companies already established with a product idea and an MVP in development, though not yet generating sales. The program also invites early-stage projects with a developed product or service, a defined business model, and initial market sales.
However, to be eligible, projects must meet a set of requirements. For example, they must belong to the food sector or have a clear application in it, address one of the challenges established in the call, have an innovative character, and have a registered office or operational center in Galicia before participating in the acceleration and consolidation phases.
Entrepreneurs interested in joining this new edition of BFFood can review the full program details and access the application form through the accelerator’s official website. This is an exceptional opportunity for food sector startups aiming to accelerate their growth and establish themselves as key players in the industry.
Now is the time to take the leap and be part of the future of food.
