The Business Factory Food (BFFood) program has opened registration for its eighth edition, offering a unique growth opportunity for food sector startups seeking to accelerate their market consolidation. The accelerator, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia through the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape) and the Closed-Type Investment Management Company (XesGalicia), is coordinated by the Galician Food Cluster (Clusaga) and has the support of leading companies in the sector.
With the aim of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the agri-food sector, BFFood will help transform promising projects with potential into viable and scalable businesses. Starting this Monday, February 2nd, interested entrepreneurs can access the registration form available on the website and submit their application to join this initiative that connects talent, industry, and strategic resources for the growth of the food ecosystem. Over its seven previous editions, the program has supported 86 projects from approximately 75 companies. Projects applying for the incubation phase can submit their applications until March 11th, while those applying for the consolidation phase can do so until June 10th.
Projects participating in this new edition of BFFood will enjoy a range of benefits designed to boost their development and maximize their chances of success in the market. One of the program’s fundamental pillars is personalized mentoring, in which each initiative will receive support and guidance from a leading company in the food sector. Participants will also receive specialized training to strengthen their business model, as well as access to infrastructure and technical services that will facilitate the creation and improvement of their product or service.
Another key strength of BFFood is its promotion of networking, allowing entrepreneurs to connect with the agri-food ecosystem, establish strategic relationships, and open new opportunities for collaboration and growth. In the financial sphere, projects that reach the acceleration phase will be eligible for a non-refundable grant of €25,000 awarded by the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape). In addition, XesGalicia will be able to offer financial support through participatory loans of up to 50,000 euros for the acceleration phase and up to 250,000 euros for the consolidation phase, thus facilitating the stability and expansion of the most promising startups.
The 8th edition of Business Factory Food is aimed at innovative projects in the food sector at various stages of development. It seeks to support pre-seed initiatives, meaning those with a business idea that aims to develop into a minimum viable product (MVP) within a formalized company. Seed-stage projects are also welcome; these are established companies with a product idea and an MVP under development, but without sales yet. Early-stage projects with a developed product or service, a defined business model, and initial sales in the market are also encouraged to participate.
However, to be eligible, projects must meet a series of requirements. For example, they must all belong to the food sector or have a clear application within it, address one of the challenges outlined in the call for applications, be innovative, and have their registered office or center of activity in Galicia before participating in the acceleration and consolidation phases.
All entrepreneurs interested in participating in this new edition of BFFood can consult the complete guidelines and access the registration form on the accelerator’s official website. This is an exceptional opportunity for food sector startups that want to boost their growth and position themselves as key players in the industry.
Now is the time to take the leap and be part of the future of food.
