Business Factory Food (BFFood) has received 38 new projects to participate in the second edition of its acceleration program, after the registration period closed last Saturday, November 30. The applications will now be evaluated and ten will become part of the acceleration program. The selection of the chosen projects will take place on January 28 at the celebration of pitch day.
Once again, the vast majority of the projects submitted come from Galicia. However, in this second edition of the acceleration program, BFFood has received four projects from outside the Galician community, specifically from Andalusia, the Basque Country, Catalonia, and Murcia. Furthermore, in this edition, the accelerator has crossed borders and received applications from Argentina and Ecuador.
The projects submitted to this second edition have responded to the seven food sector challenges posed by the anchor companies. In particular, initiatives linked to sustainability, packaging, waste and co-product recovery, and the development of new food products have stood out.
The ten projects selected on pitch day will access a comprehensive nine-month plan for the development and launch of their product or service starting February 1, 2020. They will have tutoring and mentoring from leading anchor companies in the food industry, access to workspaces, a catalog of infrastructures, technical resources and services, and networking with various institutions, entities, and projects.
Bodegas Martín Códax, Cafés Candelas, Calvo, Corporación Alimentaria Peñasanta (CAPSA FOOD), Clavo Food Factory, Cooperativas Lácteas Unidas (CLUN), Congalsa, Dairylac, Gadis, Kiwi Atlántico, Quescrem, Grupo Nueva Pescanova, Torre de Núñez, and Viña Costeira are the anchor companies that will mentor and support this second edition of BFFood. Among the collaborating entities are also the three Galician universities, the Galician Association of Agricultural Cooperatives (AGACA), ANFACO-CECOPESCA, the Technological Institute of Galicia (ITG), and the Galician University-Enterprise Foundation (FEUGA).
